I am an academic faculty advisor and teacher/lecturer at Fresno State University. I have been a registered Democrat for nearly 4 decades, dedicating my life’s work to advancing the rights of others.
I am a leader. Having served as California Faculty Association (CFA)/SEIU 1983 Chapter Vice President, at CSULA, former Chair of the Faculty Rights Team and member of the statewide Bargaining and Representation Teams winning distinguished awards including Cal State Los Angeles Lecturer Activist of the Year in 2016.
I am actively involved in several community-based clubs and committees, having served as the 1st Vice President of the Los Angeles African American Women PAC (LAAAWPAC) and elected delegate to the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee (LACDP) representing Assembly District 66; where I serve as the Co-Chair of the Credentials Team being recognized as LACDP Female Delegate of the Year in 2018.
Born and raised in Los Angeles County by hard working parents, I studied hard and have made the most of my educational opportunities. I have an M.A. in Elementary Teaching from Chapman University and a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Cal State LA.
My husband, Gardena City Mayor Pro Tem, Dr. Mark E. Henderson, and I are the proud parents of four adult children. We have one granddaughter.
